Tank Compressor + Moisture Trap

The compressor is the half of the airbrush setup nobody researches — and the half that decides how your line work feels and how your neighbors feel about you. Five parts matter: the pump, the tank, the regulator, the trap, and the switch that lets it all rest.

Tank Compressor + Moisture Trap: every part explained

01Piston Motor1/6 hp, oil-less
The pump that squeezes room air into pressure. Oil-less piston motors are the hobby standard — no fumes in the line, minimal maintenance.
02Air Tank3 L reservoir
Stored air is smooth air: the motor fills the tank and shuts off, and you spray pulse-free from the reserve while the room stays quiet. The single most worthwhile compressor feature.

03Regulator + PSI Gauge15–30 PSI working
The dial that sets your working pressure — miniatures live between 15 and 30 PSI. Set it with the trigger pressed; static readings drift a few PSI high.
04Moisture Trapdrain when wet
Compressing air squeezes its humidity into liquid; this bowl catches it before it spits through your nozzle as a crater in fresh paint. Drain it when you see condensation.
05Auto Shut-Offcuts at ~57 PSI
A pressure switch that stops the motor once the tank is full and restarts it as you spray the reserve down. This is what makes a compressor apartment-polite.

06Braided Hose1/8" BSP both ends
The umbilical between regulator and brush. Braided beats vinyl for kink resistance, and a quick-disconnect fitting here is the cheapest quality-of-life upgrade in airbrushing.
