Two-stage cutting is the technique that prevents stress whitening: first snip the gate a few millimeters away from the part, freeing it with a nub still attached; then take a second, careful flush cut to remove the stub. Two snips, zero stress marks.
The first cut absorbs the shock of the blade wedging through plastic where it cannot hurt anything. The second cut, with almost no material to move, shears clean. It doubles your cuts and roughly halves your cleanup.
