No — modern Gunpla is snap-fit: parts press together on pegs and stay together, no glue and no paint required to finish a clean, posable model. That is the entire reason it makes such a good first kit.
Glue enters later as an upgrade: solvent cement lets you weld seam lines invisible on parts that show them. Traditional scale models (aircraft, armor, cars) are a different story — most of those still assemble with cement from the start.
